First days back from break can be a bit rough at times, but I'd say today was the exception. I won't get in to how completely overwhelmed I feel with work, but I will say that it was such a joy to reunite with my national staff. I was greeted with long hugs and kisses on the cheek (from the females) and after that, I'm pretty sure the two men almost hugged me as well. Of course that's not the norm for co-workers, but it would be completely acceptable in the context of family.
And that's exactly how it feels...like family.
They sat me down for tea and to hear all about my time away. We were all smiles as we shared the events of the last 2 weeks. They told me how the village ladies and children are continuously hounding them for my return. And they shared how happy they were that I was indeed back. One person went so far to say, "This is where you belong. We should always all be together."
Man, does that feel good.
I guess it's true that there really is "no place like home." Right now, I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.
