Blessed Assurance...

My suitcase is almost packed. (That's one for the record books, considering it's only 10:30pm the night BEFORE I leave.) A lot of goodbyes (for now) have been said. And gratitude fills my heart.

My last full day here in the Ancient City was overflowing with sweet moments. Gifts and notes from my staff for me to take home to my parents. Taking a nap with Little D (per his request--You can't let a toddler down, you know?!). Rocking Little "I" to sleep. Then ending the evening with D curled up on my lap and asking me to sing "Silent Night" and (don't mock) "Blue Christmas" one more time. Man, I'm going to miss these little guys over the next 2 months!

Don't get me wrong, I'm ready for a break. But I'm also leaving knowing that this is exactly where I'm to return. And that makes my heart very happy.

(P.S. I may need a reminder of this come mid-January when I feel as though my time there was too short and I have to say another set of goodbyes, yet again. Ugh.)

Funny how a heart can have two homes. If you're this far ahead in the packing process, maybe you could take a bit of A-land home with you. Possibly Little D? I'm sure his parents wouldn't miss him that much. After all, he's only two; how attached could they be?

Have fun on your road trip.

Safe Journey...

Thanks All! I can't wait to see each of you (or at least chat on the phone). :)

Dr. Bearded-Taking Little D home with me is a brilliant idea! Especially when he says "I'm going to miss you." (sigh) But alas, his parents seem to have some great plans of grandparents coming to visit and a holiday celebration in the Ancient City.

Whatever.

I have Cardinal Land. That trumps the Ancient City for sure! :)
