They say that big things come in small packages. Well, I would say that is true. Especially as I was just handed an envelope that contains $2,000 as an end-of-the-year bonus from the school! WHOO HOO! Of course, those of you who know me, probably have already guessed that this money was already spent before I even knew I was getting it!
It's surreal, actually. I didn't take this position expecting anything in return (esp. not money). I will admit, though, that it has been a bit crazy to think about the grant that our school just received and how well-paid the teachers and staff will be in the years to come...as opposed to our volunteer services.
So what will I do with my new inheritance?
Here's my list of possibilities:
1. Shopping--Of course this is the first thing to come to mind. I've been here two years now. My time at the Galleria is long overdue.
2. London--OK, Tricks, I know this is what you are thinking. Still, I just don't know how I'll fit it in time-wise. I also know how rediculously old and "not-fun" I'm sounding right about now!
3. Fixing my stupid computer! I don't know what's wrong, but I think it definitely needs a makeover. :-) Do you think Carpenter Ty would want to do an extreme makeover show for me? ....Or maybe just a date? ;-)
4. Personal Retreat--I was just talking to T last night about needing to take a weekend (or longer) time away to process these past two years and pray about what's to come.
5. Travels to South America--This would be somewhat work-related (more on that to come in future blogs), so I'm not sure how much personal money I would be spending.
6. My 6 month Starbucks card--which I know I'm going to need an extra account for, since I hear they are about to open one in good ole' J-town!
7. Travels to visit any/all of my friends that live on opposite coasts!--NY and Cali, I love you both! Let the good times begin.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless! I don't expect it will take long for this little surprise envelope that is currently sitting on my desk in front of me to disappear.
Still, I am grateful. Grateful for unexpected blessings that remind me of His faithfulness...His love for us...and the way that He cares.
