In just about 40 minutes, the girls and I are off! No, we are not leaving the country. In this very land in which I live (yes, the one without electricity...proper toilet paper
Here's the explanation...
Last week, the girls and I went out to one of the US military bases in town to go shopping at the PX and to hang out at their coffee shop. When we walked in, we were shocked (that, being the most understated word of the year), to find a new Dairy Queen under construction! I could hardly believe my eyes! It looked as though it were almost finished, and when I asked when it would be opened, the guy said within the week!!! Now, I'm not one to waste any time, so...off we go! (I did wait an entire week, so they better have been telling the truth!)
Most of you know my fondness for this particular place. I spent most of my life living just a mere 3 blocks from the one in C-town. I'm sure Karla and Amanda are remembering all those times we'd go to walk at the track and then immediately afterwards I would drive us all to the Dairy Queen. (Hey, we had just burned off all those extra calories! I couldn't turn myself into a waif! LOL!) Afterwards we'd drive around...ice cream in hand, talking, laughing and drinking in the moments of our youth.
Then in college there was the "piggy club"--when the DQ would re-open in the spring, and a group of us would scrounge up all the money we could find to go and buy the biggest blizzards we could with what we had. (As I reflect on that, I'm wondering if that is how alcoholics feel? Hmmm.)
Anyway, a myriad of memories are flooding my mind and I have to go so I can add today's experience to the list! Whoo Hoo!!

Oh my friend! Just the mere idea of you at the DQ makes me smile so hard my face hurts!
Blizzards in hand...cruisin in the sidekick...some of the best times of my life.
I love you so.

Oh, my friend! My little girl is growing up (twenty and ten!)
I must say that the laps, blizzards and sidekicking are some of my fondest memories of the growing up years. Thanks for sharing your delight. Hope you've finally had some ice cream treats!
Much love...
Manda
