Sigh.
But that's enough about reality, let's talk about my escape. :)
MUSIC-
I've got some new people I've been listening to--mainly in the acoustic, modern folk genre. If you like this style of music here are some people (with songs) you should check out....
*Matt Nathanson--His new album "Some Mad Hope" just came out on iTunes. Buy it.
*Brett Dennen--Darlin' Do Not Fear
*Stephen Fretwell--Run
*Doubting Paris--30 Billion Stars
*Virginia Coalition--This Is Him (Hurricane Song)
BOOKS-
I'm also in the middle of reading "Bird by Bird" by Anne Lamott. I know some of you reading this aren't particularly fond of her writings, but I for one am a fan. I'm sure this book isn't the same as sitting in one of her writing workshops, but one might think otherwise if you'd look at the amount of notes I've jotted down.
Anne,
If you are reading this, I think we should be friends. :)
VIDEO-
Where ever would I be without the Gilmore Girls??
After discovering that they will be no more, I kind of felt like I should be in mourning. Like I had just lost a couple of very dear friends. These seasons have been so good to me. And like that old song says, "It's so hard...to say goodbye."
Lorelai and Rory--Call me! :) We can still hang out.
So what are your escapes these days??

I LOVE THE GILMORE GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm waiting patiently for season 7 to come out on dvd b/c i missed that season being in your neighboring country. that is surely an escape for me! i desperately want to name my first girl Lorelai. i'm a dork, i already knew that. thanks for the book recommendation. i will most likely look it up. i did start rereading dream giver last night. that is one amazing book and probably good for me at this point in my life. love love love fall! things should start looking up. next weekend i am going to a baseball game in kc. and then in october going back down to see the "so you think you can dance" tour. I'M NOT ASHAMED! someday, someday we will become real friends and not just blog friends, until then...
I love Anne Lamott too! I need to check that one out....and I'm going straight to iTunes to look up the tunes too....I've never regretted any of your recommendations!
I hope and pray you will continue to be safe.
Love you,
Krista
Escapes??? High Altitude Mountain Lakes loaded with trout, hike in, hike out.
Barsita N
Lindsay-Yes, someday we will meet in person. :) You should not be ashamed to be going to the "SYTYCD" tour! I'm jealous. HOWEVER, if you are going to see the Royals...you should definitely be ashamed. I recommend keeping that to yourself.
Unless, of course, they are playing the Cards.
Krista-I love you too. I hope you enjoy the music.
Barista N-There is no need to rub it in, ok!
I wish I had the stress relievers I had when I was growing up...a hike up a nearby ridge and a lake (resevoir) overlook. Hockey works, as does football, and I will be looking forward to it.
Escapes...last week I got my boss to take me to a kiddy park...ya, know one with go-karts and mini golf etc. It was a great stress reliever (which we needed). I also had fun playing some video games...I won at the shooting the bad guys game and the dance revolution game...but he beat me at airhocky and skiball, oh and the motorcycle thing too ( I kept running into the walls). :)
The Bearded--What?? Kansas doesn't have those things you had when you were a kid? :) And yes, your seasons are coming soon. Although your blog posts would leave us to believe that hockey never really ended in the first place.
Noel--How fun! I know you probably just "let him win" at airhockey and skiball, right? ;)
Also, remind me not to go for a ride on your motorcycle when I come for a visit.
