Yesterday.

I don't know what it was, but the world seemed to be against me. It probably all centered around the fact that I didn't have my morning coffee, but that's neither here nor there.

I was frustrated.
No electricity. Nosy government workers. No clean laundry. A dust storm in FEBRUARY. Interruptions.

Yesterday was just one of "those days."

And just when I had pretty much resigned myself to a day of accomplishing absolutely NOTHING and remaining frustrated in spite of my mental "10 Things For Which to be Thankful" list I made while walking home from the office, everything seemed to change upon opening my front door.

It was his excitement. His adorable face. Hearing him yell "LoLo!!" Those big blue eyes. The way he came running out with open arms to greet me. Sigh. It was exactly what my heart needed in order to remember that the world really wasn't/isn't all that bad.

Little D. The cutest 20 month old I know. And all the reason a person needs to smile.

So after asking permission from his mom, I took Little D down to the coffee shop (yes, we have one of those here). He went crazy for the donut holes. I went crazy for the double shot caramel macchiato. We sang "The Wheels on the Bus." We visited with N, our amazing barista. :) We looked at pictures in National Geographic. And on our way home, we bought naan. (The D's favorite!)

So what if I didn't accomplish anything? I had a date with Little D. And that...that made all the difference.

Ahhh! I am glad you have a little one around to make you smile and I am glad he has you too. You are sooo good with kids! Reading this made me think of little Elizabeth falling asleep in your arms etc. :)

Awww........I miss my little Shams-jan. But I get to see him, too, in just a few days! Maybe I'll get a coffee date with him, too, right in the yard of my office. Give him a hug for me today. Hope the moving is going well! Love and miss you!
